Description

Economic Development Internship

The Fort Ord Reuse Authority (FORA) is responsible for the oversight of Monterey Bay area economic recovery from the closure and reuse planning of the former Fort Ord military base. The former Fort Ord was/is located on the California coastline near the Monterey Peninsula consisting of 45 square miles/28,000 acres. More information about FORA can be found here: www.Fora.org.

FORA’s Economic Development program focuses on advancing regional economic recovery goals established in the 1997 Base Reuse Plan (BRP). Program strategies include: building on regional economic strengths; engaging regional partners & stakeholders; developing and maintain information resources; pursuing new and retaining existing businesses; and measuring and reporting progress on goals. Internship Description:

Intern will contribute to the Economic Development program by providing digital marketing support using existing websites and social media channels; developing new marketing presentations, reports and graphic materials; completing market research and reports; supporting Startup Challenge marketing and implementation; participating in the annual former Fort Ord  Jobs Survey; and other tasks as assigned. Intern will work under supervision of the FORA Economic Development Manager.

Educational opportunities in this position include: economic development; market research techniques, business planning methods; report preparation and presentation skills. Key skills development include: market research techniques; financial modeling; business analysis; web and social media development and management; communications; and presentation techniques.

Experience with WordPress/HTML, Adobe Photoshop a plus

Duration:

This opportunity would begin in July 2018 and run through June 2019 (subject to performance review).

Compensation:

This is a paid internship opportunity at $15/hr minimum 19 hours per week. BUS 498 credits possible.
